The doctor

Edzard Ernst

started his first job in 1978 in a naturopathic clinic in Munich.

In Hanover and Vienna he was professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation - until his appointment to Exeter, England, where he established the chair for complementary medicine from 1993.

In 2012 he retired.

Ernst, 73, is considered one of the leading critical researchers in alternative medicine.
