Covid-19: vaccination centers forced to close for lack of sufficient doses

2021-03-27T19:28:29.696Z

Two towns, Abbeville in the Somme and Denain in the North, had to cancel their vaccination weekend for lack of doses.

The municipalities had organized everything, planned everything.

The room, the nursing staff, the logistics.

Everything except delivery failures.

The vaccination weekend in Abbeville, in the Somme, and Denain, in the North, could not take place due to lack of vaccine doses.

A blow for people who hoped to receive their injection, sometimes their second.

The village hall of Denain, a town of 20,000 inhabitants, had nevertheless prepared for a fourth “punch” operation:

We had been promised 1,200 and on Thursday morning, I was warned by the ARS that it would only be 200

, declared the mayor (PS) Anne-Lise Dufour to France Bleu.

A thousand appointments were therefore urgently canceled, giving priority to people who had already received a first dose.

However, President Emmanuel Macron had promised on Tuesday a new round of doses for the Hauts-de-France region: 30,000 this week then 30,000 next week.

Lack of vaccines: elected officials of Seine-et-Marne demand more transparency from the State

"Between communication and the reality on the ground, our fellow citizens no longer understand," annoys the mayor of Denain.

They ask me why I don't have the vaccines.

I do not have the answer.

We hear that dentists and veterinarians will be able to vaccinate but they will not inject perlimpine powder.

We need vaccines.

From 700 to 154 doses from one weekend to the next

Just in time for three weeks, the town of Abbeville will have opened its vaccination center only a few hours, Saturday morning ... Before closing it in the afternoon and until the end of the weekend.

Here too, the delivery of vaccine doses has been "drastically reduced", reveals France Bleu.

"For this weekend, we have very few doses: 154 exactly, which does not allow us to vaccinate either all day or all weekend", specifies doctor Agnès Ducastel, general practitioner of Abbeville. .

The previous weekend, Abbeville had yet received 700 doses (one bottle corresponding to seven Pfizer doses).

Thus, only 49 health professionals were able to receive an injection at the commune's vaccination center this Saturday morning.

But for the rest of the population, especially people over the age of 70 who can now be vaccinated, it will be necessary to wait until Monday.

"We can vaccinate up to 900 people per day"

“They talk to us about vaccinodromes, to solicit other professions for vaccination, but it is a false problem since in fact we do not lack arms, we simply lack doses.

We can open powerful structures, if we do not have the doses, they will not take.

Send us doses!

castigates doctor Agnès Ducastel.

Up to 900 people can be vaccinated per day.

All you have to do is extend our hours

Covid-19: capacity, type of vaccine ... how will vaccinodromes work?

For three weeks, the city had so far been able to open every weekend.

In one day alone, on Sunday March 14, 800 people were vaccinated in this town of nearly 23,000 inhabitants.

Pascal Demarthe, the mayor of Abbeville, says he “regrets” this situation “when everything was planned to accommodate the maximum number of registrants”: six doctors and as many nurses can be mobilized each day to ensure a vaccination from 8 am to 8 p.m. Monday to Sunday.
