British police are investigating numerous cases of sexual assault reported anonymously online, involving some of the best private schools in the country.
Almost 6,000 episodes have been reported on the "Everyone's Invited" website, founded by 22-year-old Soma Sara, determined, she says, to eradicate the "culture of rape" from schools and beyond.
The harrowing tales of the students come after the arrest, on March 16, of a London police officer accused of the kidnapping and murder of Sarah Everard, a woman whose disappearance sparked outrage and a national debate on women's safety.
In an effort to show renewed attention, the police have now selected a series of cases reported on the site involving children from more than 100 schools, including some as prestigious as Sherborne, Westminster and Eton, where they studied the prime minister among others. Boris Johnson and Prince William.
At the Highgate School, a well-known private school in London, classes were suspended this week after the online publication of a dossier with over 200 testimonies from students and former students.
The school has announced an independent internal investigation.
