“
Expect to see tractors, lots of tractors, on the roads this Friday,
” warned Stéphane Sanchez, director of the National Federation of Farmers Unions (FNSEA).
At the origin of these demonstrations, the union points to the possible reduction in aid granted to farmers, the reform of the CAP (Common Agricultural Policy) as well as the Climate law.
The protests will begin this Friday at 6:00 am at the level of 150 to 200 “
assembly points
”, spread over 12 departments of the Paris Basin.
"
If he doesn't listen to us, we'll toughen up
"
Around Île-de-France, four convoys of tractors will leave for the sub-prefectures and prefecture of the Yvelines department (78).
Stéphane Sanchez also estimates the presence of 11 filter dams in Essonne (91), Yvelines (78) and Val d'Oise (95), or the entire west of Paris.
“
Historically we used to go to Paris.
There we warn the government that we are staying on the periphery, but if it does not listen to us, we will toughen it up.
This is the message
”.
But the action will not be limited to the surroundings of the capital.
“
It is not only an operation in Île-de-France, but the entire territory of the Paris Basin.
It will be released in Le Havre, Rouen, Évreux, in the Somme, in the North, in Lille or Reims, ... Tomorrow we will have extensive tractor output coverage
”recalls Stéphane Sanchez.
Other events to come
Last week, thousands of breeders expressed their anger in the streets of Clermont-Ferrand and Lyon.
This week, others expressed their dissatisfaction in Mont-de-Marsan in the Landes (40) and in the cantons of Haute-Garonne (31).
If the situation does not change, other protests are to come, including a large-scale one in Dijon in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, scheduled for April 6.
“
It's going to come out all over the place, but in view of the agricultural calendar, it was difficult to come out all at the same time.
Farmers are currently working morning, noon and evening to prepare the spring seedlings.
It's complicated but we have no choice,
”admits Stéphane Sanchez.
