Netflix is accelerating the reduction of its carbon footprint.
The world leader in video streaming, with 200 million subscribers worldwide, is following in the footsteps of other tech giants like Microsoft and Apple.
Netflix is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by the end of 2022, by reducing its CO2 emissions and offsetting the balance through investments in carbon sinks (forests, positive impact ecosystems, etc.).
Using Dimpact, a calculation tool developed by researchers at the University of Bristol, the Los Gatos firm estimated that “
one hour of streaming on Netflix in 2020 emits less than 100g of CO2, which is equivalent to traveling 400 meters behind the wheel of a gasoline car
”.
