This was decided by today's National Council on the proposal of the athletes' commission: these are the weightlifter Alessandro Andrei, the cyclist Paolo Bettini, the wrestler Vincenzo Maenza, the cross-country ski champion Gabriela Paruzzi and the footballer Paolo Rossi.
The Golden Stars for sporting merit were also awarded to the new presidents of the Federations and Associated Disciplines on the basis of the Coni Honors regulations.
