Barbecue is simply part of the German spring and summer.
It's just stupid if you "only" have a balcony instead of a garden and perhaps neighbors that are sensitive to smells.
There are now also
smoke-free charcoal grills
and
gas grills
have their appeal, but more and more people are turning to electric grills.
Largely unnoticed by grill purists, a lot has happened in the past in the electric grill segment and well-known manufacturers such as Weber or Napoleon also have electric models in their range.
Reason enough for Stiftung Warentest * to take a closer look.
The testers put twelve electric grills
under the microscope.
Stiftung Warentest has tested these electric grills

Stiftung Warentest: This is how the electric grills were tested
Of course, an important point in the test was how the devices
grill meat, vegetables and fish
.
With the meat, neck steaks landed on the plate or on the grill and it was checked whether the core temperature had been reached, how juicy the meat remained, and whether it had enough roasted aromas.
The testers also rated the grills in the categories of
handling, durability and safety
.
Electric grills at Stiftung Warentest: The test results
The good news first:
All but one of the grills achieved a quality
rating of
"good"
- the best with a grade of 2.1, down to 2.5.
The bottom light in the test was the Unold 8555 for 80 euros, but this also achieved a grade of 2.6 and thus a "satisfactory" rating.
The reason for the devaluation was not the grilling result or the safety, but the
durability of the device
.

The test winner for the surface grills was the
Philips device for 84 euros
, while for the contact grills it was a head-to-head race between the higher-priced premium products and the bargain from Lidl.
The latter was clearly ahead in terms of safety, but was only able to achieve a "good" (2.3) for the grill result.

But of course there are also disadvantages:

But here there are aids such as smoking chips.
