(ANSA-AFP) - BERN, MAY 26 - Switzerland, after months of diversions, has ended negotiations on relations with the EU. This was announced by the Swiss government.
Speaking at a press conference, President Guy Parmelin announced that the Confederation is "putting an end" to the negotiations on the agreement that aims to homogenize the legal framework for Switzerland's participation in the EU single market and to establish a dispute settlement mechanism.
"We regret the decision of the Swiss government, given the progress made in recent years to transform the institutional framework agreement into reality": the EU Commission replied in a note released after the decision communicated by Switzerland.
