The European Medicines Agency (EMA) gave the green light this Friday to the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine for 12-15 year olds.
The serum against Covid developed by the Pfizer / BioNTech alliance has been under evaluation by the EMA for 12-15 year olds since the beginning of the month.
In particular, she looked at the results of a large clinical study involving adolescents 12 years and older, in order to decide whether or not to recommend extending the ages at which it can be administered.
For the moment, his authorization was limited to people over 16 years of age.
Some 2,260 adolescents participated in the large study conducted in the United States, Pfizer reported on March 31.
"The first results we have observed in studies on adolescents suggest (that they) are particularly well protected by vaccination", praised Ugur Sahin, CEO and co-founder of BioNTech.
