He called the city "the new Jerusalem" and dedicated a song to it with "My City".

Mannheim still doesn't want to have anything to do with Xavier Naidoo.

Years ago, the city stopped working with the singer, who repeatedly attracts attention with homophobic, right-wing populist and racist expressions of opinion and songs.

Now the city administration would like to prevent a concert of his planned for October 9th.

The city did not have any regulatory action against the concert, the press office said in a statement.

The planned concert in the SAP arena is not in the interests of the city.

The operator should check whether he wants to offer this artist a stage.

The current occasion is Naidoo's participation in a recently published anti-vaccination song with the title »I'm not doing it«.

He sings the chorus with the line: "It can't be, we don't let this poison into our bodies," and the fourth league of German hip-hoppers raps absurd corona conspiracy theories.

Tenor: The government wants to enslave the population.

At one point there is a symbolic call to violence against vaccination centers.

The video for the song was deleted from YouTube shortly after it was released, but can still be found on the Internet.

In her statement, Monika Enzenbach, the press officer for the Lord Mayor of Mannheim, Peter Kurz (SPD), describes Naidoo as an »artist who is drifting further and further into the sidelines and is now making music with anti-Semites and right-wing extremists« and fears that he will not take the stage at the SAP Arena will only use musically.

Other cities don't want Naidoo either

Daniel Hopp, son of the SAP billionaire Dietmar Hopp and operator of the hall, said at the request of the SWR that he was not the organizer of the evening, but only the landlord.

The local concert promoter DeMi Promotion has not yet spoken to Naidoo's management about the latest developments.

Mannheim is not the only city that does not want to tolerate an appearance by Xavier Naidoo.

Last week the citizens of Rostock spoke out against a Naidoo concert planned for August.

Last year Hof canceled a Naidoo performance, Mönchengladbach postponed a concert planned for June to next year.

However, it is controversial to what extent the cities have legal control.

The Rostock city administration expressed strong legal reservations about the decision of the citizens.

Public institutions such as the town hall are obliged to uphold the principle of equality.

No organizer or artist should be excluded from renting out the facilities because religious or political views are not shared.
