Maurensig, after completing his classical studies, moved to Milan, where he began to work in the field of publishing. '' The variant of Luneburg '' (Adelphi), published in 1993, has been translated all over the world and has sold 300,000 copies in Italy alone. In 2007 a theatrical transposition of the novel made its debut at the Verdi theater in Gorizia, with the voice of Milva. In 1996 Maurensig's success was confirmed with '' Canone inverso '' (Mondadori), which sold about 200,000 copies in Italy and from which the eponymous film by Ricky Tognazzi was based. Among the various awards obtained by the writer, in 2016, the awarding of the Cortina d'Ampezzo Prize, for his 'Theory of shadows' (Adelphi).
