A man is fighting for his life - and the bystanders have nothing better to do than film the scene: During a rescue operation in Mönchengladbach, some young women stepped in spontaneously and screened the event from onlookers.

As the fire brigade announced, a 70-year-old man suffered cardiac arrest on Monday morning in a café on Marienplatz in Mönchengladbach.

The man fell on the sidewalk and had to be resuscitated there by the arriving rescue workers.

»Don't be afraid to take photos and videos«

Many viewers immediately gathered, some of whom "were not afraid to take photos and videos of what was happening," the statement said.

Thereupon, however, five young women intervened spontaneously, asked for blankets in the café and thus set up a temporary screen against the onlookers.

Shortly afterwards, support from the fire brigade arrived with regular privacy screens and was able to relieve the women.

In addition, the police were alerted, who spoke to the onlookers, had photos and videos deleted and issued reprimands.

The 70-year-old was transported to a hospital after about 45 minutes of resuscitation.
