It's a cute little story told on Facebook by an American retiree.
That morning, Ralph, a former Marine Pilot, sees Harley, his goldendoodle (a cross between a poodle and golden retriever), swimming in the lake behind the house.
The former soldier cannot believe it: his doggie is not alone, he is bringing back to the shore a young doe in difficulty.
“I don't know how the fawn got there.
Harley, he did not ask himself the question, he took action, ”writes Ralph Dorn, in his Facebook post, with images and videos in support.
Once near the edge, Hartley helps Bambi out.
“Harley didn't want to leave the fawn,” the owner told People magazine, which spotted the story.
The former pilot sees the fawn's mother and leads her dog home.
I couldn't find Harley this evening until I looked out on the lake.
He was near the middle of the lake herding a little ...

The next day, as the retiree and his wife, Patricia, 64, are having breakfast, they notice their goldendoodle is not behaving as usual. “Harley was restless, he was running from window to window. I opened the door and we heard the fawn squealing, ”says Ralph Dorn. The dog is released and runs to the edge of the woods, where he finds the young deer. “The little one stopped screaming, and started wagging his tail. They touched their noses, sniffed, and Harley calmly came home with me. At the end of the day, the fawn and its mother left, and have not returned since.
An animal that saves another, and moreover another species? This seems to have hardly surprised the owners of Harley. It must be said that their dog is remarkable in more than one way. Certified by the Alliance of Therapy Dogs, he “works” in nursing homes and libraries throughout the state of Virginia, where his teachers live. A "job" recognized as being of public utility in the United States. In neighboring Ohio, dogs are also being deployed to hospitals. They were selected as part of the Buckeye Paws program to help healthcare workers overcome stress related to Covid.
