and of a true ruling class, which on the one hand guided and accompanied the development of the country, on the other hand it was able to interpret and address the signs of the long Italian crisis, which has persisted since the mid-1990s. Energy was the distinctive character of Enrico Manca, who had started his career as a journalist at a very young age, always projected towards the future and renewal, and until the last day in charge of the very active Isimm and president of the Bordoni Foundation, both dedicated to technological and multimedia development. Died in Rome on 5 July 2011 at the age of 79, just 10 years ago, he was born in the capital on 27 November 1931.And now

    Graduated in law, he began militancy in the unitary Socialist Party very early, then

Manca became, in 1955, national secretary of the party's youth federation and member of the management

. In the same period he actively participated in university politics also as director of the Italian goliardic union, sublimation of his attentive and sarcastic spirit. He joined the Socialist Party in 1959 and also became a member of the management, among other things holding the position of head of the press and mass media sector.


    An area that has always remained in his heart as a reformist, even when he subsequently became a leading exponent of the Francesco De Martino current, in the early 1970s.


    In 1976, at Midas, he was among the protagonists of the new socialist course, supporting the candidacy of Bettino Craxi as party secretary. From 1972 to 1994 he was a deputy. Then in 1986 the position of great prestige: he became president of Rai but his interest in public TV was certainly not born at that time. Already in 1961 he had entered as editor of the journalistic services at the GR, then moved to the news, and from '68 to '72 he had directed the cultural services of Rai. In Viale Mazzini he was president from 1986 to 1992, before returning to the political activity and to that of the soul of Isimm, an institute for multimedia capable of giving life to a continuous discussion on the issues of the development of the media world and of communication.


    Ten years after his death, N.ISIMM and ISIMM Ricerche - institutes that the President had founded - gather friends, scholars, managers and colleagues to remember the salient features of a passionate, strong, multifaceted and fruitful personality.


    Reflecting on the figure of Enrico Manca and on the different seasons of the political, social and cultural life of the country he has crossed, also constitutes a qualified and lively contribution to navigation in the treacherous waters and in the sudden metamorphosis of today. Event born with the fundamental contribution of his wife Cristina and daughters Sabina, Lucia and Flaminia.
