(ANSA) - TOKYO, 03 JUL - At least two people have died and another twenty are missing due to the landslide that struck today the Japanese central eastern prefecture of Shizuoka, about 200 km south of Tokyo: the local governor told reporters. Heita Kawakatsu. "Two people are in a state of cardiorespiratory arrest," Kawakatsu specified, using the formula common in the country to indicate a death before confirmation by a doctor.

"The land gave way in torrential rains" creating a mud river that "swept away homes and inhabitants" and cutting a national road, the governor explained. (HANDLE).
