The videos on Twitter convey one thing above all else: rejection.
Because the wellness club "Wi Spa" in Koreatown, a district of Los Angeles, also allows trans women to use the women's area, right-wing groups are already storming for the second weekend this month, reports the Guardian, among others.
Video as a suspected trigger of the protests
According to the Guardian, the root of the protests was said to have been the video of a woman who complained about a trans woman in the women's area of the spa at the end of June.
The recording then spread on the net.
The first protests in front of the spa are said to have taken place on the weekend of July 3rd, according to the report.
Since then, right-wing extremists have been calling for a boycott of the spa and demonstrating in front of the wellness facility, among other things, for the protection of »women's rooms«.
Anti-fascist groups organized a counter-protest.
Videos, for example on Twitter, show demonstrators and police clashing again and again.
Journalists are also said to have been attacked
A spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department said, according to the Guardian, that dozens of people were arrested because the situation on the ground did not calm down.
Rubber bullets were also used.
A journalist is said to have been attacked by right-wing demonstrators.
According to the report, “Wi Spa” is currently not commenting on the protests.
