A fatal accident occurred on the A81 near Heilbronn early Tuesday morning.
An 80-year-old man got out of his car and was hit by another vehicle.
As the police announced, the man was initially traveling on the autobahn towards Stuttgart in his van and horse trailer.
At the height of Ilsfeld, he suddenly turned his team for an unexplained cause.
A subsequent truck just avoided the vehicle and hit the right guardrail.
The 80-year-old then stopped in the left lane against the direction of travel and got out of his car - apparently without paying attention to the traffic.
He was hit by an approaching Audi and fatally injured.
The Audi driver and his passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
An expert should now clarify the exact course of the accident.
The lane in the direction of Stuttgart remained closed until around 9 a.m.
Property damage totaling around 30,000 euros was caused to the vehicles.
