After the bloody crime in Plymouth with six dead, the British police have identified the perpetrator according to their own information.
A 22-year-old man was responsible for the violence.
The man shot a woman in an apartment early Thursday evening and then fired at random passers-by, said police chief Shaun Sawyer in the southern English port city.
First a "very young girl" and a man related to the child were killed, then a woman and another man.
At least two people were seriously injured.
Then the shooter shot himself.
Sawyer gave no information about the motif.
There is no suspicion of terrorism.
Local MP Luke Pollard told Times Radio on Friday morning that the information was still quite confused.
The police are still looking for eyewitnesses who could say more about the crime in the Keyham district.
Johnson offers his condolences
The people in the neighborhood were "devastated" by the brutality of the attack, said Pollard.
"Keyham is a really close-knit community - it's the kind of place where you know your neighbor and take care of each other."
Prime Minister Boris Johnson offered condolences to the families of the victims.
"My thoughts go with the friends and families of those who lost their lives and everyone involved in that tragic incident in Plymouth last night," Johnson tweeted.
He thanked the rescue workers for their commitment.
The Bishop of Plymouth called people to pray for victims and loved ones.
There is "a deep sense of shock and sadness" over the city, said Mark O'Toole.
The chairman of the city council, Nick Kelly, called for no speculation about the course of events and the motive to spread.
"Today our city is in mourning." It was "a harrowing tragedy that affects not only the families of the victims, but also the people in this quarter and the whole city."
