(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 23 - There are about 20,000 people at Kabul airport waiting to be evacuated from Afghanistan. This was reported to CNN by local sources, specifying that US plans foresee the arrival of 33 C-17s of the US Air Force in the next 24 hours. Each of the aircraft has the capacity to carry 400 passengers, which means that more than 13,000 of those 20,000 people could leave the country in the next few hours. However, according to the source, Washington has decided to limit admissions to the airport and today would only allow American citizens, green card holders and citizens of NATO countries to enter, excluding Afghans.
