(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 23 - The "Crimea Platform" international meeting has begun in Kiev, the purpose of which was declared by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as "the coordination of international efforts for the return of Crime to Ukraine": the newspaper reports online Meduzas emphasizing that representatives of all EU countries, USA, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Turkey, Georgia and Moldova, as well as the European Union and NATO take part in the event. The Ukrainian authorities expect a declaration to be adopted in which the participants will confirm "their willingness to adhere to the policy of non-recognition of attempts to annex Crimea". 40 countries participate in the event:13 are represented by heads of state or government and another 17 by ministers or deputy foreign ministers. "We rate this event as extremely hostile towards our country," said Putin's spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, according to the Interfax news agency. Russia de facto annexed Crime in 2014 by snatching it from Ukraine with an invasion of armed men with no badges and a controversy referendum and is also accused of militarily supporting the separatist militants of the Donbass.
