With his new autobiography »The Lyrics«, Paul McCartney wants to portray his life as a musician with song lyrics and historical documents - in 900 pages and 154 songs. Now the British musician announced on Twitter that the book will include songs from McCartney's entire career, from his time as a "Beatles" singer to the band "Wings" to his phase as a solo artist. The list includes titles such as "Blackbird", "Live and Let Die", "Hey Jude" and "Yesterday" - but also the song "Tell Me Who He Is". The text probably dates from the 1960s and has not yet been published.
The title "The Lyrics" is based on McCartney's conversations with the Northern Irish poet Paul Muldoon.
In an interview with the British daily "The Guardian", Muldoon said that he had met McCartney regularly for two to three hours for five years.
In doing so, they "talked very intensely over half a dozen songs," Muldoon said.
The process "resembled in a strange way the afternoon sessions he had with John Lennon during his time as a composer with the Beatles": "We were determined never to leave the room without something interesting."
McCartney's autobiography is said to include materials from McCartney's personal archive, including unpublished drafts, letters, and photos, according to the editor.
