According to Bloomberg, some users will soon be able to make voice and video calls directly from the Facebook app, without having to use Messenger.
While this is just a test, the company said the feature "will reduce the need to jump back and forth between the main app and the second one," saving some time throughout the day.
In 2014, Facebook began pushing towards Messenger, stopping the ability to take advantage of the internal chat service, with the need to install other software. Since then, Messenger has earned over 1.3 billion monthly active users. The giant had explained the move by pointing out that, in this way, those interested exclusively in the messaging options, text, audio and video, of Facebook, could simply use the dedicated platform, so as not to have to scroll through the bulletin board and post. But with the rise of competitors like TikTok, coupled with the growth of Instagram, the time spent on the social network founded by Mark Zuckerberg has shrunk. For this, the test aims to bring more people back to the pivotal app, hoping that the bulk of the public will continue to use Messenger as well.
Behind it is also the company's vision to unify all chat services it owns, as well as WhatsApp and Instagram Direct, probably with the release of an independent application in the future. (HANDLE).
