Ian Foster will remain on the All Blacks bench until the 2023 World Cup, New Zealand Federugby (NZR) announced.
"There is no doubt that 'Foz' and his team perform excellently in difficult conditions and we are happy to send a strong signal of support to (...) enable the group to prepare for the future," he said President Mark Robinson in a statement.
Ian Foster's contract would expire at the end of the year.
At the beginning of 2021, several players had asked for certainties about the preparation for the next World Cup in France.
For his part, the coach expressed his enthusiasm for "the idea of leading the team into the future" and his "desire to get to work". Under Foster's leadership the All Blacks have twice won the Bledisloe Cup (2020, 2021) and the Rugby Championship in 2020, played in the absence of South Africa. After three wins, two losses and a six-test draw in 2020, they have a five-game winning streak in 2021, including two against Australia.
