Caviahue, the city of Neuquén that is bordering Copahue, has experienced an intense

snow storm

which has already

exceeded 20 centimeters

above the surface.

However, beyond how picturesque a snowy landscape is and what it means for tourism in some provinces of Argentina, strong storms

also bring complications

and also some curious stories.

Gustavo, a nurse and resident of one of the cities best known for its natural hot springs,

tried this Thursday to leave his house

, like any other day, to go to work.

But his routine was disrupted: this time, he found a white wall on the other side of his door, he had to literally

dig a tunnel to be able to go outside

before walking the five blocks that separate him from the health center where he attends.

According to the Río Negro newspaper, it took the nurse

more than half an hour, without rest

, to clear the powder snow to achieve his mission.

This type of snow is

the most appreciated by skiers

, however, for Gustavo, it represented a real inconvenience: with the accumulation,

it had become caked

.

The work was arduous: with tools, gloves to overcome the cold -and avoid burning himself with the ice-, the man had to chop the snow to make

a step of 10 meters

, until he saw the light.

Gustavo, a nurse from Caviahue came across a white wall behind the door of his house

"We had to go in at nine

o'clock

and when we wanted to leave we found that, more snow than normal ... So

today we arrived a little late

for work," said the nurse, who maintained a good mood.

Rainfall, according to the forecast, will continue in the region until this Saturday with

minimum temperatures

, such as this Thursday of

9 degrees below zero

.

The extreme cold, it is expected, will continue in the same range in the next few days, during the weekend.

Complicated transit

The Directorate of Roads in Neuquén reported that the

Pino Hachado international crossing

and different

sections of at least three routes remain disabled

due to accumulation of ice, snow and zero visibility due to strong white wind, the Télam agency reported.

Snow storms complicate traffic in Neuquén.

In the report, it was specified that Provincial Route 46 is impassable from the junction with National Route 40, to the junction with Provincial Route 24, and from there

to Cuesta del Rahue

.

This, according to Vialidad, is because there is

accumulation of snow

throughout that sector

and visibility is zero

due to the presence of a strong white wind, so the teams continue to operate in clearing and anti-ice service.

Meanwhile, provincial route 13 remains

impassable from Cerro Cansino to Litrán

, and provincial route 26 from Loncopué to Caviahue, for the same reasons.

Thus, throughout this Thursday, the Pino Hachado international crossing will remain disabled because national route 242, from Los Álamos to the border with Chile, is impassable due to ice accumulation and zero visibility due to white wind.

Finally, the road authorities recommended to the citizens "to

take into account the warnings

at the moment of starting the circulation through Neuquén territory, even more in the middle of an alert in force due to strong winds."
