(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 30 - SergeiPolunin's bold undertaking, inspired by the Comedy for an initiatory journey to dance, staged from 1 to 5 September at the Alighieri Theater, again at 9pm, as part of the Trilogy of Autumn of Ravenna Festival.
Dante Metànoia - the second word of the title, from the Greek, stands for total conversion - is a fresco, a story of redemption from one's demons.
Commissioned by the Festival as part of the dedication of love to the poet that characterized its 32nd edition, this three-part itinerary was composed by several hands in collaboration with choreographers friends such as Ross Freddie Ray (Inferno) and Jiří Bubeníček (Paradise). Polunin has instead faced the Canticle of Purgatory: "I chose a half way because I believe I am in this phase of my life". "I will take you with me on my journey from Hell to Heaven, no matter how trodden the path is: everyone walks a path that no one else has ever crossed before," writes Polunin. This triple choreography is the halfnoia of Sergei Polunin, a journey in which Dante has as guide and companion: the poet and the étoile, rebels and stateless people in search of a lost home, both torn by personal crises, they immerse themselves in search of meaning and love, discovering their own personal paradise through art and creativity.
Dante Metànoia is therefore also a story of transfiguration of the one who falls and gets up, inspiring the other changes as well: Polunin re-elaborates in dance the period of personal crisis that has led him today to a profound transformation as a dancer and as a man. After the appointment with SergeiPolunin, the Alighieri Theater will host two other debuts: Faustrapsodia (October 1-3) is a visionary production that combines Goethe's lyrics and Robert Schumann's music in the drama and musical adaptation of Luca Micheletti and Antonio Greco; Elio Germano will be entrusted with Dante's luminous hendecasyllables for Paradiso XXXIII (11-13 October), a work conceived with the composer Teho Teardo and directed by Simone Ferrari and Lulu Helbaek.
