(ANSA) - ROME, 01 SEPT - Armed men have kidnapped over 70 high school students in northwestern Nigeria.
This was reported by the police.
Attackers stormed a high school near Maradun, Zamfara state this morning and kidnapped 73 students, the state police spokesman said in a statement.
Yet another kidnapping of students in Nigeria takes place a few days after the release of three other groups of hostages in exchange for large ransoms. Some of the abductees were very young, including a four-year-old boy. Their families, in some cases, had to sell all their possessions to get them released. This morning a large group of armed men broke into the secondary school of Kaya in the region of Maradun, in the state of Zamfara, taking away the 73 students, the police said in a statement. Spokesman Mohammed Shehu added that rescue teams and militarists are collaborating in an attempt to reach the kidnappers and free the students. (HANDLE).
