Afghanistan: women take to the streets for the right to work

(ANSA) - KABUL, 02 SEPT - About fifty Afghan women took to the streets in Herat (west) in a rare protest to obtain the right to work and participate in the new government of the country.


    "It is our right to have education, work and security", the demonstrators sang in unison: "We are not afraid, we are united".


    One of the organizers of the protest, Basira Taheri, demanded that the Taliban include women in the new executive: "We want the Taliban to hold consultations with us," she stressed. "We don't see women in their meetings," she added.


    Meanwhile, Taliban sources have indicated that the announcement of the new government could come tomorrow after the afternoon prayers. According to rumors circulated yesterday,for the new executive it was a matter of hours. (HANDLE).
