Exactly ten days before the primary elections are held, the electoral judge with jurisdiction in the City of Buenos Aires
María Servini
determined that people infected or isolated by coronavirus should not go to vote.
The magistrate ruled that people who are transiting the virus and / or have compatible symptoms should continue with the isolation established by the health authorities.
The same will apply to those who are considered close contacts.
Servini confirmed that any of the three scenarios will be
cause to justify the non-casting of the vote
.
The resolution was communicated to the Buenos Aires health authorities through a letter to which
Clarín
had access
.
"It is established that people who are suffering from the Covid-19 disease, and / or have symptoms compatible with it, must continue with the isolation established in a timely manner by the corresponding public health authorities, they must not appear to vote, being sufficient cause to justify the non-casting of the vote in accordance with the provisions of article 12 section d of the National Electoral Code, and the corresponding procedure must be carried out, attaching the pertinent medical certification in due course. Likewise, and also as a general rule, those voters who are in close contact , or they are considered suspected cases of contagion of the aforementioned virus, or that must remain isolated by any of the legal provisions in force, they must not appear to vote and their non-voting will be justified in the same way, under the conditions indicated above, "says the resolution.
And he adds: "In the hypothetical case that a voter appears before a
polling place claiming to
be included in any of the aforementioned causes, he will
not be allowed to enter the establishment, and the electoral delegate will draw up an act in this regard."
