About 77 thousand students will try to get their hands on one of the 15,273 places made available for the next academic year in the faculties of Medicine and Surgery of the Italian state universities on Friday

.

A real challenge: only 1 out of 5 will pass. The identikit created by Skuola.net of the aspiring white coats of 2021 tells of very aggressive guys.

The site has collected the testimony of 500 young people who will sit at the bench to take the test.

Confirming what has been said is the fact that many of them are veterans of the tests, who have already attempted glory in the past but who, in the face of defeat, have not given up: about 3 out of 10, in fact, are like minimum on the second attempt, having failed the appointment in previous years. However, the vast majority (70%) are those who will be for the first time in the presence of the medical quizzes. But such a high number of 'repeat students' equally gives us the measure of how determined are those who want to pursue a medical career.

So much so that over 8 out of 10, if they do not make it (for the first or the umpteenth time) to enter this academic year, they swear that they will not abandon the goal at all: 73% will still enroll in the university, in a course that allows them to take some exams that would then be recognized at the time of enrollment in Medicine, about 1 in 10 will take a year to focus on preparation and come back more prepared in twelve months.

At the base of such strong tenacity there is above all passion, the main motivation for 3 out of 4 aspiring doctors. All the rest is marginal: only 1 out of 10, for example, tries a path so full of obstacles for future job prospects, just as many (10%) for potential earnings. So, to avoid the worst case scenario and be disappointed, a lot is invested both in terms of time and money. Almost 3 out of 10 candidates, in fact, started preparing for the tests even a year in advance and for another 11% the study based on the quizzes started at least six months ago.

How? Especially with specialized books (35%), online simulations (20%) or preparation courses (15%). But about 1 in 4, in order to have no regrets, has been drawing on all the sources for a while.

As mentioned, the economic part is also important. Given that, to increase the chances of success, it was possible to spend even over 500 euros (so says 29% of the sample). Another 15% was between 300 and 500 euros, 33% held between 100 and 300 euros, only 23% managed to contain the outlay below 100 euros.
