Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding dead at 39

The British artist died on September 5, 2021 from cancer. From 2002 to 2013, with her female pop group, she sold some four million albums.


Singer of British pop group Girls Aloud, Girls Loudly in the Language of Molière, Sarah Harding, has died of cancer at the age of 39, her mother announced on Sunday (September 5th).

The singer of this group, formed in 2002 on

ITV's

Popstars: The Rivals,

revealed last year that she was suffering from breast cancer.

Unfortunately, the disease has metastasized in the last few months.

It is with deep sorrow that I share the news today that my beautiful daughter Sarah has unfortunately passed away,

" her mother Marie announced on Instagram. “

Many of you know Sarah's battle with cancer and know that she fought really hard from her diagnosis until her last day. She left peacefully this morning,

”she wrote, a message accompanied by a black and white photo of the thirty-something, smiling.



Composed of five young girls, Sarah Harding, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, Cheryl Tweedy and Kimberley Walsh, Girls Aloud enjoyed success for a decade until the band split in 2013.



Their first hit,

Sound of the Underground

ranked number 1 in the UK at Christmas 2002, staying on top for four weeks.

Three of the band's other songs,

I'll Stand By You

(2004),

Walk This Way vs Sugababes

(2007), and

The Promise

(2008), topped UK singles sales.

In total, the group has sold over four million albums.
