MANTOVA - Explore all aspects of the figure of Venus - born from the waters as a celestial figure, goddess of beauty, mother of cupid - the exhibition 'Venus.

Curated by Claudia Cieri Via, the exhibition is divided into nine sections, which show the variety of images of the goddess from the second century BC to the seventeenth century, making use of coins, statues, paintings, but also miniatures and precious volumes such as the De Rerum Natura of Lucretius owned by Pope Sixth V, but also Venus and Mercury present to Jupiter Eros and Anteros del Veronese on loan from the Uffizi Galleries in Florence or The judgment of Paris by Peter Paul Rubens from the Akademie der bildenden Künste in Vienna, or Venus , Cupid and Mars by Guercino. The loans also come from the Vatican Apostolic Library at the Musées royaux des Beaux-Arts de Belgique in Brussels, from the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid and include works by Lucas Cranach, Albrecht Dürer, Dosso Dossi and enrich thedisplay the frescoes themselves of Palazzo Te, in which Venus is constantly depicted. The project is organized and produced by the Palazzo Te Foundation and the Palazzo Te Civic Museum, promoted by the Municipality of Mantua with the patronage of the MiC, the contribution of the Lombardy Region and the Banca Agricola Mantovana Foundation, the support of Amici di Palazzo Te and the Mantovani Museums. and the technical support of Glas Italia, Pilkington, iGuzzini.
