(ANSA) - GENEVA, OCTOBER 28 - WHO has announced a new plan to fight the Covid-19 pandemic in poor countries and is asking for $ 23.4 billion over the next 12 months to finance it.

The partnership of the world's leading health agencies (the Accelerator Act) "needs $ 23.4 billion to help the countries most at risk procure and deploy tools to fight Covid as of now and until September 2022", reports a WHO statement, underlining that this is a tiny figure compared to the trillions of dollars of economic losses due to the pandemic and the cost of recovery plans.
