(ANSAmed) - TEL AVIV, OCTOBER 29 - The Israeli government has set itself the goal of eliminating greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. This was announced by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, on the eve of his departure for the Glasgow summit on the climate emergency in which he will participate together with a very large delegation. "Israel - he said - aligns itself with developed countries that have already adopted measures to eliminate emissions, and doubles its commitment to the Paris agreement. We react to this global challenge by seeking technological solutions and joining our efforts to achieve this important end". All this, he added, "will require the efforts of all economic sectors - energy, transport, industry, agriculture and waste treatment - so that they have recourse to a wide range of measures that reduce emissions ".

President Isaac Herzog's special adviser for climate tears, Dov Chenin, added: "We need to change direction as of today. We aim for efficient and clean public transport. We aim for rapid use of solar energy. We will

encourage agriculture, also to ensure food safety. And we will tax the big polluters ".
