Simon Milewski, 28, is a personnel manager at Deutsche Bahn. While on vacation, he came into contact with a Hollywood star.
SPIEGEL:
Tell me, how was it with the credit card?
Milewski:
I recently went to Mondello Beach in Sicily.
I was walking by the water and suddenly I saw a credit card in the sand.
SPIEGEL:
From Harrison Ford.
Milewski:
That said, yes.
The card was completely worn out, it didn't look like Hollywood.
I thought: Funny, someone's name is like the actor.
SPIEGEL:
What did you do?
Milewski:
I handed it over to the police, then I'll go back to the sea.
I started to wonder: what if it's from the real Ford?
I googled and read that he was making a film in Sicily.
So I went back to the police.
I said I'd like to get to know Ford.
The police replied that he was sitting around the corner at the fish restaurant and that he had the card back.
I went to the restaurant.
SPIEGEL:
How did Ford react?
Milewski:
Very nice!
He was having lunch with his family.
He asked why I didn't run off with the card.
He said I could have come very far with it.
SPIEGEL:
As a reward, there was a selfie with Ford that you posted on Facebook.
What happened then?
Milewski:
It went viral, at lightning speed.
Dozens of radio and television stations have asked me for interviews, you are the 13th I will speak to today.
SPIEGEL:
You were even on the ZDF news.
Aren't you getting fed up with that?
Milewski:
Oh, that's a nice story.
There is so much bad news if I can contribute something positive, please.
SPIEGEL:
Do you know Andy Warhol's saying that in the future everyone will be famous for 15 minutes?
Milewski:
That fits very well.
The internet makes it possible.
SPIEGEL:
What if that was your 15 minutes?
Milewski:
Of course.
My wife says it's enough now, Simon.
I'll turn off my cell phone next week.
