The world is watching us, billions of people are waiting for answers: it is time to act. The first day of the G20 under the Italian presidency comes to an end with this appeal to world leaders. The context in which the President of the Republic raised his alarm could not have been more solemn. Out of the technicalities that touch the leaders, the head of state from the Quirinale wanted to touch the deepest chords of the heads of state and government, all gathered in the Salone delle Feste, with a simple and direct speech: "The moment is now. the eyes of billions of people, of entire peoples, are focused on us and on the results we will be able to achieve. I am confident that our countries will respond to the appeal that comes from world public opinion.height if we will be able to rediscover the thread of collaboration and the sense of responsibility that today's growing interdependence between peoples and nations of the planet imposes on us ", said Mattarella just before a very crowded dinner at the Quirinale which saw two tables (in two different halls) host the heads of state and government.

The already intense day of the leaders and delegations ends at the Quirinale who in the evening were able to admire in amazement the concentration of works of art collected in the Palace that was also of the popes, a magnificent compendium of the history of Italy of the last five centuries. In this scenario Sergio Mattarella welcomed the many guests in the boardroom, greeting them one by one in an interminable parade that put a strain on ceremonial and safety. Over 120 guests at the dinner offered by the President of the Republic. Many that, in an era of pandemic and distancing, were distributed in two rooms and two huge tables. About 60 leaders and first ladies (but also two first gentlemen, Joachim Sauer, husband of Chancellor Angela Merkel, and Heiko von der Leyen, husband of the president of the European Commission, Ursula) sitting in the ballroom; the other 60, mainly ministers of foreign affairs and finance, housed in the Bronzino room which takes its name from the important group of tapestries that adorn the walls, some of which are woven to a design by the famous Florentine painter Agnolo Bronzino.

After Mattarella's brief greeting, the big names in the world were able to focus on other Made in Italy delicacies: salmon marinated in dill with olive powder as an appetizer.

Pumpkin risotto for first course and sea bass fillets with vegetables from the Castelporziano estate as second course.

Tomato puff pastry, celeriac and artichoke hearts with stuffed potatoes, for side dish.

A steamed mandarin cream to finish with an exquisitely Mediterranean touch.
