(ANSA) - ROME, NOVEMBER 04 - The North is driving the recovery of the Italian economy after the pandemic.

According to the report on the regional economies of the Bank of Italy, based on the quarterly indicator of the regional economy (ITER) "the recovery was more marked in the North than in the rest of the country".

The northern areas, however, had recorded a greater fall in the product.

The negative effects of the pandemic therefore affected all the macro-areas, not increasing the structural gaps between the South and the rest of Italy.

And the PNRR measures for digital development will be crucial to bridge the delay of the Southern regions on all indicators in a country which is also in 25th place out of 28 countries in the general indicator and last for digital competences.
