A Russian diplomat was found dead on the way to the Russian embassy in Berlin on 19 October. Der Spiegel writes this in an anticipation of the issue on newsstands over the weekend. The 35-year-old was accredited in the diplomatic post as the ambassador's second secretary since the summer of 2019, but for the German intelligence he was actually a Russian intelligence agent of the FSB. The man would have died falling from a high floor of the embassy complex, and according to German security sources the reasons for the fall and death are "unknown". The embassy spoke of a "tragic accident".
