Because she gradually murdered her boyfriend and five relatives from 2012 to 2018, a former police officer in South Africa has been sentenced to six life sentences and a further 95 years in prison.
The high sentence should ensure that the 46-year-old never comes out of prison, said judge Ramarumo Monama on Friday.
The Johannesburg court had already found Nomia N. guilty last month of killing her cousin, one of her sisters, her boyfriend, her niece, her nephew and another relative between 2012 and 2017.
Mostly she hired contract killers for this, but the sister poisoned and strangled her herself, according to the conviction of the court.
Contract killers informed the police
In total, N. is said to have collected the equivalent of more than 80,000 euros from life and death benefit insurance, which she had previously taken out on behalf of her victims.
In 2018, she also wanted to have her mother killed, while a second killer was supposed to burn down the house of another sister where she lived with her five children.
The man, however, informed the police, and they were finally able to convict the ex-colleague.
Most of the trial, with all its creepy details, was broadcast live on South African television.
For weeks he cast a spell over a shocked nation.
