have a responsible and systemically relevant job. They ensure that household and industrial waste is collected and brought
to special collection points
, where the waste is recycled. A team of garbage collectors usually consists of three people: the driver of the garbage truck and two garbage drivers who stand outside on running boards. They drive on pre-planned routes, where they empty the garbage cans that are waiting on the side of the road or throw garbage bags into the garbage truck. They also check whether the bins contain the wrong garbage. When they're not disposing of rubbish, garbage collectors also set up containers for glass, paper or other special waste and swap full for empty containers.

have completed training in another profession. But even without training, those interested have the opportunity to work in the garbage disposal. The companies train their garbage collectors themselves and show them, for example, how to properly pull and empty garbage cans. Anyone who has a class C or CE truck driver's license can be used as the driver of the garbage truck right from the start.
Alternatively, interested parties can

training as a specialist in recycling and waste management
after school
and thus secure more skills in organizing waste recycling and disposal (see above).

Salary as a specialist in recycling and waste management
The
training
remuneration as a specialist in recycling and waste management is

There a collectively agreed salary is paid according to TVöD.

the industrial tariff
, skilled workers earn slightly less during their three-year apprenticeship, between 660 and 800 euros per month.
