(ANSA) - BEIJING, NOVEMBER 16 - The Chinese Communist Party claims the maintenance of stability and prosperity in Hong Kong and Macao after the return of the territories to Beijing, defending the repression of the pro-democracy movement of 2019 in the former British colony as a "firm support "to end the chaos and violence, as well as separatism and subversion in the former colony.
The historic resolution of President Xi Jinping, approved by the Plenum of the CCP, has marked that "since the return of Hong Kong and Macao to the motherland, the central government has acted in strict compliance with the Chinese Constitution and Basic Law of the two special regions".
