Fake Covid-19 vaccine: why lying in hospital is dangerous

2021-12-12T10:45:16.580Z

A 57-year-old woman who had obtained a false vaccination certificate died in a hospital in the Ile-de-France. Hide your true status

“You shouldn't bet on your life.

"Friday, the head of the intensive care unit of the Raymond-Poincaré hospital, in Garches (Hauts-de-Seine), Djillali Annane, shouted at the microphone of RTL radio.

On October 31, one of her patients died of Covid-19 after she told caregivers that she was double vaccinated.

She had actually bought her health pass from a health professional or a man posing as this health professional, the investigation will have to determine.

"There is information that you cannot hide from your doctor if you want to give yourself all the chances when you have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 and develop a severe form", hammered Dr. Annane. The 57-year-old patient suffered from an acute form of the disease "which progressed rapidly to severe respiratory damage," he explained. Alerted by the seriousness of his case, the doctors carried out a battery of additional examinations, including a search for antibodies against the coronavirus. “It was the first time that we saw a young woman, with no known medical history, a priori vaccinated, and who developed a form of the disease remarkable for its severity,” Djillali Annane told Franceinfo.

The patient's husband eventually admitted that she was not vaccinated.

He was himself, but he had "had difficulty convincing his wife."

“She didn't want me to say that.

(…) She was afraid of legal proceedings, ”he lamented.

He now intends to file a complaint against the person responsible for his wife's vaccination declaration.

A false certificate "can falsely refer the doctor who takes care of you", recalled Djillali Annane.

Non-vaccination, a "risk factor"

According to the specialist, if this woman had warned caregivers that her vaccination certificate was a fake, her death could have been prevented. "In a form such as presented by this person, who had no medical history and who had a form which had progressed rapidly to severe respiratory damage, early on could have been administered neutralizing antibodies, effective (

at 80 % according to the Haute Autorité de santé

) to reduce the risk of disease progression. "

Knowing the patient's vaccination status has become essential, abounds Frédéric Adnet, head of the emergency department at Avicenne hospital (Seine-Saint-Denis), joined by the Parisian.

"We now consider non-vaccination as a risk factor for developing a severe form of Covid-19, just like obesity for example," he explains, specifying that there was no of official recommendation on this subject, but that "in the field", this is how doctors proceed.

“Faced with two Covid patients, one vaccinated, one unvaccinated, slightly out of breath, I would rather let the vaccinated patient go home because the probability of his case getting worse is much lower and I would tend to keep 'hospital for the unvaccinated person', explains Frédéric Adnet.

Above all, underlines the doctor, the vaccination status must be known from the outset since it is "within five days of the onset of symptoms that a preventive or even curative treatment can be administered".

"Cheating on your vaccination status is taking a huge risk," he repeats.

"It distorts the statistics"

This case of false vaccination would not be, according to Djillali Annane, not isolated: “We have at least one other patient without any antibodies, who has a severe form and continues to say that he has been vaccinated.

However, these lies help to diverge the official data of hospitalized patients according to vaccination status with those reported by doctors.

"It distorts the statistics and sends bad messages on the effectiveness of vaccines", annoys Frédéric Adnet.

More than 2,300 false vaccination certificates have already been revoked, BFMTV learned from the Directorate General of Health (DGS) on Saturday.

Producing or using a false vaccination certificate is an offense punishable by five years imprisonment and a fine of 150,000 euros for counterfeiters and three years in prison for users of false passes.
