(ANSA) - MADRID, 13 DEC - The authorities of the Canary Islands (Spain) have withdrawn the order to close at home issued this morning for the residents of three municipalities of La Palma, an island hit by a volcanic eruption, after the detection of high levels of anhydride sulfur (So2).
The decision was made after the air quality improved "considerably", explained the managers of the emergency plan for this natural disaster.
The situation remains under close observation, they added.
In the three municipalities mentioned there are about 33,000 residents, according to the data of the National Institute of Statistics reported by the Iberian media.
