(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 13 - Expanding the experimentation of bio-saving techniques in 11 Italian regions to build a new agricultural model that meets the sustainability objectives required by the EU with the Green Deal. This is the goal of the three-year 'Biocontrol and Digital Innovation' project launched by Cia-Agricoltori Italiani and Ibma Italia, International Biocontrol Manufacturers' Association. From 2022 to 2024 it will involve Veneto, Liguria, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Umbria, Marche, Lazio, Molise, Campania, Calabria, Sicily, 50 technicians and 100 companies for training; all this to favor the transition of phytosanitary defense from synthetic chemicals to bioproducts of natural origin, not only in organic farms but also in conventional ones, pushing at the same time on the digitization of production processes.

An ambitious work that has seen the two organizations join the Hipp, Italian Association for the Protection of Plants with a memorandum of understanding to collaborate in the activity of study, information and dissemination. And precisely to spread the knowledge of biocontrol techniques, Cia and Ibma have launched a website that aims to be a tool for comparison and exchange of experiences. "To reduce the use and risk of chemical pesticides by 2030 as indicated by the EU - said the CIA president, DinoScanavino - one of the solutions is to invest in biocontrol techniques, but it is necessary to increase the presence on the market of new products. with less impact for the phytosanitary defense of crops. This is why we ask the Ministry of Health and DG Sante of the EU Commission to simplify and, above all, to shorten the duration of the registration and authorization processes. "To date, in fact, of the approximately thousand active substances available in the 1990s, have remained available less than 500, including plant protection products withdrawn from the market or not renewed in the authorizations.
