Frank Zander's goose meal for the homeless has a long tradition, but due to Corona it has to be canceled again this year.
But the 79-year-old helps in a different way: in Berlin, together with Caritas, he is giving out meals, gift bags and sleeping bags to the homeless and other needy people until December 17th.
"Our customers are important and I am pleased that things are going like clockwork today," said Zander on Monday at the start of "Christmas with Frank On Tour".
He should be supported by celebrities and politicians on the Caritas food truck throughout the week.
Actor Wolfgang Bahro, musician Alf Ator and actress Katy Karrenbauer helped on Monday.
Karrenbauer said that she wanted for Christmas: "That everyone stays healthy and happy and looks ahead."
In addition, a corona vaccination offer was made available in cooperation with the Maltese relief service.
"We're very proud of that," said Frank Zander's son, Marcus Zander.
So far, the vaccination is going great, said a spokeswoman for the Maltese.
“Lots of people queue up and fill out everything.
We hope that we will have as much rush at each station as here. "
Zander already supported Caritas with his campaign last year.
Before the pandemic, he celebrated with numerous homeless people at the Hotel Estrel every year - in 2019 for the 25th time.
