How to fix high speakers?

2021-12-13T14:47:48.377Z

Before carrying out any work, you must choose the location of your speakers, and in particular their height!

Hi-Fi or Home Cinema speakers: what is the right height?

In general, it is generally accepted that the high-frequency speaker (also called a tweeter, as opposed to a woofer) should be placed at ear height.

This rule is relaxed in the case of High-Fidelity (Hi-Fi) speakers which are sometimes placed on the ground (in the case of columns) or on a piece of furniture (for compact speakers).

In the case of the Home Cinema, it is the satellite or bipolar speakers that will be placed high up, ideally at ear height.

But for aesthetic reasons, they are often placed just under the ceiling, to avoid having a speaker in the middle of a bare wall.

Built-in speakers, discretion guaranteed

In-wall speakers have made huge strides in audio quality, claiming today to serve as Hi-Fi speakers. They require demanding work, starting with excavating your wall to place the speaker and concealing the speakers. son.

Then fill the space around the enclosure with plaster, then finish and paint for an optimal discretion of your installation.

Mini-speakers, versatile models

Easier to set up, mini-speakers offer a solution that combines correct sound with relatively good discretion.

Like satellite (or surround) speakers, mini-speakers can be placed in height very easily, using a simple drill.

Insert the fixings into the wall at the desired height with the drill, and you're done.

Wall speakers, a good compromise

In-wall speakers come in a wide variety of designs, from thin panels to mounting blocks.

Either way, make sure your wall structure is strong enough to support the weight of the speakers.

Use a drill to attach the speakers to the wall, and hide the wires in the wall or with a wand on the ceiling.

Parties and concerts: choose floor-standing speakers

In the case of outdoor parties or various events, aesthetics take second place, behind sound power.

Floorstanding speakers are therefore ideal.

The stands can be sold with the speakers, unless you opt for a rental.

They offer minimal loss of sound power, and a perfect ear-level diffusion for sounding an outdoor space with large numbers of guests.

Don't forget the connected speakers

If they are not necessarily suitable for a home cinema installation, connected speakers can however prove useful for listening to music, sometimes with hi-fi quality if you opt for a high-end model. In some cases, you can even mount them on the wall: some Google Home or Google Nest references allow this, with or without additional accessories. Our guide can help you choose the best Google smart speaker that's what you're looking for. One of the advantages of this kind of device is that once it's plugged into the mains, you don't have to wired it to other devices. The operation is done via Bluetooth and via WiFi. As a replacement for or as a complement to a more complex installation, the connected speaker therefore has many advantages.
