(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, DEC 13 - Over 500 sexually abused gymnasts by Lawrence Nassar, the former US national doctor, have negotiated a $ 380 million compensation agreement with the American Federation of Discipline and the US Olympic and Paralympic committees, closing the last chapter of one of the biggest harassment scandals in the history of sport and in general. The New York Times writes it.
The agreement was announced during the USA Gymnastic bankruptcy proceedings before an Indiana court. The funds will also compensate Olympic champions Simone Biles, McKayla Maroney and Aly Raisman.
Victims suffered anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, while some of them attempted suicide for Nassar's abuses, perpetrated under the pretext of medical treatment.
