(ANSA) - NEW YORK, 13 DEC - The obligation to wear a mask indoors in public places comes into force in the state of New York.
Governor Kathy Kochul's decision aims to curb the spread of the Omicron variant at a time when the number of cases is already on the rise.
The state's positivity rate is just under 5%, but 0.1% of state hospitals would not be able to handle a crisis.
"We are entering a period of uncertainty", said Kochul in recent days announcing the obligation to mask until January 15.
