According to a court ruling, the Dutch right-wing populist Thierry Baudet is no longer allowed to compare corona measures with the persecution of Jews in World War II.
The MP had to remove several posts from social media, a judge ruled on Wednesday evening in Amsterdam.
After the judgment, Baudet is also no longer allowed to use images from the persecution of the Jews in the debate about corona measures.
He wants to appeal.
Defendant relies on freedom of expression
Two Jewish organizations and four Holocaust survivors brought lawsuits against Baudet.
The parliamentary group chairman of the Forum for Democracy compared unvaccinated people with Jews who had been persecuted by the German National Socialists on Twitter.
If he violates the judgment, he faces a fine of 25,000 euros.
The politician had invoked freedom of expression.
But he did not want to play down the Holocaust.
The plaintiffs alleged that his statements were extremely hurtful to Holocaust victims, survivors and their families.
Baudet does not want to play down the Holocaust, said the judge.
"But if you compare the corona policy with the persecution of the Jews, which are in no way related to each other, the fate of the Jews is implicitly trivialized." Baudet thus creates a breeding ground for anti-Semitism.
