When a 49-year-old suspect's apartment was searched, police officers in Berlin and Jena came across an arsenal of weapons.
On Tuesday, police searched two apartments and found eight rifles, two semi-automatic pistols, silencers, magazines and ammunition.
The man legally owned the guns, according to police
As the police announced, the man had the necessary weapons permits, so he owned the weapons legally.
The officers nevertheless confiscated the weapons as a "security measure".
The Jena weapons authority is now checking whether the man's permission to own the weapons can be withdrawn again.
The police searched the apartments because they suspected the man had distributed several anti-Islamic leaflets in Jena in November 2020 and March 2021.
In the case she investigates for insulting creeds, religious communities and ideological associations as well as for sedition.
The man confessed, the police said.
