Vittorio Tommasone was working this morning on the renovation of a private building.

He fell off a scaffold and died at the age of 59.

He worked in Ischia, without a regular employment contract, and leaves behind his wife and three children.

Luigi Aprile was 51 years old. He was moving a crane from a truck when the machine tilted causing him to lose his balance.

He fell from a height of 10 meters and died instantly in Massafra (Taranto).

Pierino Oronzo, 55, died while he was carrying out work to lay a sheath on a building in a square in the city center in Montecorvino Pugliano (Salerno).

The slaughter of deaths at work does not stop. And today, only today, the victims are three. Tommasone was originally from Naples but resided on the island for a long time. He had been employed for a long time in a spa park and for some years, in the winter period, he had worked in the construction sector. This morning he was in Forio, on a construction site. It was irregular in that construction site, no contract, the carabinieri ascertained. He fell from a freight elevator from the second floor of the house under renovation in the Cava dell'Isola area. Tommasone, after the impact, was taken by his colleagues in a van to the Rizzoli hospital but the injuries were very serious and the doctors could not help but ascertain his death. The military has seized the site and the body and in these hours they are questioning the other workers of the company, the witnesses. They want to understand the dynamics, the causes. What is certain at the moment is that he worked illegally.

Pierino Oronzo was also irregular. The carabinieri of Montecorvino Pugliano and the company of Battipaglia, who intervened on the spot, ascertained that there was no type of employment relationship between the worker and the owner of the property. The victim is not registered with any chamber of commerce so he worked illegally. He was not married and had no children. The property was seized and the body was taken to the hospital in Battipaglia for the autopsy examination which will be carried out in the next few days.

And again in Puglia, and the story does not change.

Luigi Aprile, from Massafra (Taranto), was a crane operator employed by the Massucco company that deals with logistics, earth moving and operating machinery rental.

He died at the company headquarters, on the Appia state road.

He was moving a crane from a truck, but the machine tilted and he crashed down 10 meters.

He hit his head, he died instantly.

The 118 operators, the carabinieri and the Spesal (ASL workplace prevention and safety service) intervened at the scene of the accident.

Investigations were started to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the accident and establish responsibilities.

But, in the meantime, the list of fatal accidents in the workplace is getting longer and longer.
